Competing Materials

The American Forest & Paper Association works to create avenues that enable our members to compete in any market. Part of this mission includes the advancement of the use, production, and preference of all forest related products.

AF&PA members compete vigorously in the marketplace against products of other material types. We stand proudly behind the performance of our products. What's more, forest products are derived from a sustainable resource and are recycled at high rates. One of our industry's many success stories is the corrugated box, which not only offers superior functionality to our customers, but also is recycled at rates approaching 75 percent nationally.

Examples of head to head marketplace competition include plastic bags versus paper bags, reusable plastic crates versus corrugated containers and plastic bottles versus aseptic paperboard containers.
