WASHINGTON – American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman and Pennsylvania Forest Products Association Executive Director Paul Lyskava, today issued the following joint statement thanking the Pennsylvania General Assembly for passing a resolution to recognize Tuesday, April 14, 2015, as Forest and Paper Products Day in Pennsylvania. Fifty-three thousand Pennsylvanians work in the pulp, paper, paper packaging and forest products industry.
“We applaud the Pennsylvania General Assembly for recognizing the historic role the forest products industry has played in the Commonwealth. From the founding of the very first U.S. paper mill in Pennsylvania in 1690 to today when 2,100 businesses in the forest products industry operate in every county in the Commonwealth, our industry has made unique contributions to Pennsylvania. We join the General Assembly in acknowledging the hardworking men and women in Pennsylvania who use renewable, recyclable resources and sustainable manufacturing practices to make products that benefit the lives of all Americans,” Harman and Lyskava said.
