WASHINGTON - American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman and Packaging Corporation of America Chairman and CEO and immediate past chairman of the AF&PA Board of Directors Mark Kowlzan issued the following statement in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Smart Sectors program. The EPA unveiled the initiative on Tuesday.
“The EPA’s Smart Sectors program offers a forward-thinking approach to streamlining operations and achieving positive outcomes that will support industry and the environment,” said Harman. “We look forward to collaborating with colleagues and the administration to further understand needs and challenges for all concerned and achieve solutions that ensure public policy does more good than harm.”
“The paper and wood products industry faces enormous challenges from costly, complex and vast amounts regulations that hurt our ability to contribute to economic growth and job creation,” said Kowlzan. “We’re pleased to participate in the Smart Sectors initiative to achieve common-sense regulatory approaches that protect the environment and allow industry to compete at home and around the globe.”
