According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 25% in July compared to July 2022. U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers decreased 32% in July compared to the same month last year.
Total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in July remained essentially flat (+0.4%) compared to July 2022. They were down 3% when compared to the same 7 months of 2022.
While there's less newsprint in the marketplace, it's still a very valuable fiber. There is a greater percentage of newsprint in the marketplace being recycled.
